Why bother?

I just had an interesting conversation with a few customers; talking about educating people on purchases, buying quality and taking care of their garments. It went in a direction briefly this subject rarely goes in with clients where I said,

“I am in a difficult situation trying to pay rent in Vancouver. But when a customer is unsure of a purchase the only ethical thing I can say is, ‘ maybe you should think about it.’ because my investment into running a company isn’t about putting dollars in the bank , it’s an investment into the future of the planet we live on and the communities we engage in. I just think that’s so much more important. And when I am no longer investing in that there’s no longer a reason, I feel, for me to run this business.”

And now I just feel a big YESSSS! inside and wanted to share with everyone. It may not be a wealthy business decision but it’s the only one I can abide personally.

Thank you to everyone who really cares! It takes baby steps but all the money in the bank won’t buy one happiness when there is no livable planet on which to spend ones wealth. Keep the world beautiful, livable and lovable!

Earth and Wear Fall 2016

In this third instalment of Earth and Wear, we have had the advantage of seeing what works and what doesn’t for a one night pop up shop show. We chose a theme, colour scheme and layout, which all payed off! Our combination of cloth and clay was a great success! We had food and wine and many fascinating attendees that made the fountain of conversation inspirational and ever flowing.

Our artists talked on how being local is extremely important to our economy. They spoke of sustainability and making the most of every opportunity! We tried things on and had fun playing with the clothing as well as fondling the amazing ceramics that were intermingled throughout the display.

Pebble Studio makes the best underwear documentaries

Back in the spring time we caught the attention of local photographers and videographers Pebble Studio. Thank you to their exceptional skills and our wild models (well one of the models was a camera man with some unexpected enthusiasm) they made the most incredible short doc about how the magic happens. I have been holding onto this video to share at just the right time and I am thrilled to be able to do it now!

We filmed over two days. I wore a mic for the better part of two days. I was a little apprehensive about how silly I might get with a mic attached to my shirt but I can’t deny it’s authentic. Everyone had such great confidence and chemistry running around in underwear hamming it up on camera. You’ve already seen the stills but now you can check it out from behind the scenes!
